A busy end to the week...

On Wednesday night I went along to Chinwag Live: Media Widgetised here in London. Chaired by Steve Bowbrick (from King of shaves), it flowed like social chat, with short sharp snipets of discussion and no powerpoint (which was nice). I also had a good chat after with some guys from Emap, about RSS on the mobile. I seems that the only point is for the user and from a marketing point of view it's not great as you can't clickthrough to view the website. I had a great talk with Ganesh Sivaraman from Nokia about how they are managing widgets on the new s60 handset, I was soooo relieved to hear they were using a web browser as a runtime for widgets, and even more so when he informed me they were using the now open source Webkit. They are also keeping the s60 browser open so Samsung, LG and the others can use it on their symbian platforms!!! So there has never been a better time to develope for Safari as the default browser (but I have been saying this for a while)! Finally I talked with Jonathan Gabbai from Ebay about Apollo and Adobe's clever strategys. On Thursday I started doing some Flash 8 development at work... which I have to say was painful in it's setup and the environment you have to work in, but once you get down to it, there isn't much between it and JavaScript, or even AS3. Later that evening I went for an 8k run around the common in preperation for the weekends 10k charity fun run. Friday was quite normal, although I finially got my Blackberry from work. My first impressions are good, I had some problems with the scroll ball but then realised it just needed a clean (it was second hand). I think the most impressive things about it are the gmail and google maps applications and Opera mini, which is fantastic! On Friday night we went to a loverly Moroccan restaurant in Clapham where you could sit in a tent outside (tent lookin, wasn't really a tent). The food was interestin, especially when Em ordered fish (not really liking fish) and it came with the head and tail still on! So today we had a 10k funrun to do (nothing fun about running that far) around dullage park. You can still sponsor me retrospectivly if you want :) Firstly doing 8k on Thursday was a bad idea, as was having shreddies and toast for breckfast. However it wasn't too bad once I had got past the stomach cramps, and ski sunday as a powersong was a live line. I managed to get around in 53:32 and counted 10.38km on my Nike+ thing!
